Get Well Firefighters

Students in Miss Livingston’s keyboarding class at Landrum Middle School created get well cards for the Houston firefighters of Stations #7 and #16. Also, Miss Livingston purchased two plants and wrote a personal letter to the firefighters at both stations. This was in response to the accident on March 30, which involved two fire trucks from Stations #7 and #16 at the intersection of Westheimer and Dunlavy. Nine firefighters were injured and were transported to area hospitals.

Miss Livingston delivered the get well cards, plants, and personal letters in person to both fire stations. She had the opportunity to speak to one of the fire captains and some of the firefighters. One of the firefighters expressed that kind deeds of this sort inspires them to work even harder.

The firefighters from Station #16 D-Shift (the shift that was on duty on March 30) mailed a package to Miss Livingston and her students. Enclosed in the package was a thank you letter, an 8 ½ by 11 photo of the Houston firefighters, and a Houston firefighter patch.

The LMS at the Altheretta Yearin Art Museum
The LMS Ballet Folklórico performed on Saturday, March 7th at the Altheretta Yeargin Art Museum as part of First Saturdays at the museum. The event focused on our neighbor to the south, Mexico. Our Ballet Folklórico performed to traditional dances from the states of Jalisco and Nuevo Leon, a movie on Mexico was presented and artists Phyllis Miller and our very own Mr. Bautista presented lessons on decorating processes and Alebrijes. The Ballet Folklórico would like to thank Ms. Zulema Suarez, for helping with the dresses and to Bravo’s Mexican restaurant on 290@Bingle for lending us the Mariachi hats.

This is the fourth year a LMS student has achieved this honor. Previous recipients are: Gustavo Pina in 2006, Armando Morales in 2007, and Adrianna Guillen in 2008. Once again, congratulations Jesús, we are very proud of you!
