Attendance

Daily attendance is a high priority at Landrum. Students must be in class in order to receive the high quality curriculum and instruction we offer. State law requires that students be in school everyday. Students must be in class 90% each semester in order to receive credit for any class. Students are allowed no more than 10 absences per year (5 per semester), district guidelines state that students and or parents will be ticketed for excessive absences.

If a student is to be absent, call the attendance desk at 713-251-3700 before 10:00am to report the absence.

Students who have been absent should come to the office to get a permit to enter before school begins. Please send a signed and dated note with the student explaining the absence. Each note must include:  student’s first name and last name, grade level, the date(s) of the absence, parent/guardian signature, and reason for the absence, and phone number to reach parents/guardians. If a student must get a permit without a written note excusing the absence, it will be an unexcused absence.

Permission to leave during the school day
If your child must leave campus with you during the school day for any reason, such as a doctor’s visit, he or she must get a permit to leave campus and must be signed out by a parent or guardian. Please send a note explaining the reason. Your child should come to the office before school begins to get this permit, and must be signed out by a parent or guardian. Students will not be released from Landrum Middle School unless the adult is listed on his/her emergency card.  Parents may also come to the office to get the permit when they pick up the student.
