Leadership

Principal

Mr. Roy Moore

Roy Moore just finished his 3rd year as the principal at Landrum Middle School and his 22nd year in education.  Prior to Landrum, Roy served 8 years as an elementary principal all in SBISD.  Roy was an assistant principal in the Dallas area before relocating to Houston.  Roy taught Special Education in both elementary and middle school before becoming an administrator. It was during that time when he learned how all kids learned differently and the value of meeting the needs of every child.  Roy was selected by his peers as 2019 Spring Branch ISD Elementary Principal of the year.  Roy earned his undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State and his master’s degree in education administration from Prairie View A & M University.  Roy is a graduate of the RICE University Education Entrepreneur Program (R.E.E.P.) and completed the Harvard University’s Art of Leadership Program.  During his time at Landrum Middle School, Roy is most proud of the new build campus, and the learning outcomes and growth his students are making.  Roy is also proud of the commitment that his teachers and staff have made to meet the needs of every child, every day.

After finishing my undergraduate degree at Youngstown State University in Ohio, I moved to Houston, Texas to start my career as an elementary school teacher. I spent several years teaching elementary school and then had the opportunity to teach middle school in Spring Branch ISD. While teaching middle school, I pursued my passion to become an administrator and began my Master’s Degree in Education Administration & Supervision at the University of Houston.   While I was working on my master’s degree, I started a leadership role as a School Improvement Specialist for Language Arts and Social Studies at Northbrook High School where I supported teachers and students.  A few years later, I moved into the role as an assistant principal at Northbrook High School where I remained for 7 years.

I am excited to be a Landrum Lion and the 6th grade assistant principal!

I am so thrilled to be a part of the Landrum family! I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I immigrated to the United States in 1990 with my mother to pursue the “American Dream.” My mother always taught me to reach high and work hard. To that end, I went on to earn a degree in Interdisciplinary Degree from the University of Houston and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. In my 15 years in education I have been a classroom teacher, mentor, department chair and instructional coach. Throughout all my experience in education, I have developed a firm belief that Every Child can learn and deserve a quality and equitable education. I also believe for students to achieve at their highest levels, we have to connect with them and care for the Whole Child. I look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders to be partners in that work. It’s a privilege to be a Landrum Lion and the 8th grade Assistant Principal.
